ARES
Volunteers Needed for HazMat Exercise - Wednesday
May 22nd from 8am to 12 PM
The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management
is looking for ARES Volunteers to help exercise
their evacuation and shelter operations during this
exercise. Please contact Robert Flory, Montgomery
County ARES Emergency Coordinator if you are interested
in volunteering,
Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure
(GOBA)
Is a week-long tour for up to 3000
bicyclists. Bicyclists on this tour bike 50-60 miles
per day, spending the nights camping in host communities.
In 2013, GOBA will be celebrating their 25th annual
tour in several counties of western Ohio from June
15th to June 22nd.
GOBA will be touring through Montgomery
County on Monday June 17th. They will begin the
day at Community Park in Troy, Ohio and head south
towards Carillon Park in Dayton utilizing the Great
Miami River Bike Trail. There will be a morning
and afternoon snack stops at the Taylorsville MetroPark
Shelter House on the southside of the dam off of
Route 40.
As they approach downtown Dayton,
they will leave the trail and take city streets
until they rejoin the trail near US. Route 35. The
turnaround and lunch stop will be at the Carillon
Park.
Volunteers are needed for net control,
staff critical areas along the course and to staff
lunch and snack stops in our area.
